InnerCHANGE WORKS returns to El Quetzal Coffee Farm for Health Fair

18 Oct

InnerCHANGE WORKS, a U.S. non-profit NGO, is returning to Nicaragua this month to host health fairs—“Community Celebrations of Health and Safety”—at the El Quetzal and Selva Negra coffee farms in Matagalpa on Oct. 22-23 and at the California School in Villa El Carmen, near Managua, on Oct. 29.

These health fairs are part of a longer-term sustainable development project by InnerCHANGE WORKS that seeks to empower community members through health-improvement councils that promote health and safety education.

Clinica Verde: Big truck, big thanks … and Florence

29 Jul

Thanks to IMEC for organizing our clinic equipment shipment.

Our Equipment Arrives at the Clinic!

After a long delay in Nicaragua customs, we are happy to report that our shipment of medical supplies and equipment arrived last month at Clinica Verde. Things look good, and we’re eager to continue moving forward!

We’d like to recognize and thank IMEC for organizing and arranging the entire shipment for Clinica Verde. IMEC is a volunteer-based organization whose mission is to provide doctors in developing countries with quality medical equipment to improve health care for the poor. The organization has worked with over 60 humanitarian organizations to revitalize hundreds of impoverished hospitals with donated surplus medical equipment and supplies that are organized into complete medical departments, delivering them to over 70 countries around the world. They made the job of equipping our clinic efficient and highly organized, helping us to conserve both time and resources. A special thanks also to Clinica Verde board members/volunteers Dr. Mary Huber and Don Farrar for identifying and coordinating with this world-class charitable organization.

Now, our team on the ground in Nicaragua is working diligently on government agency approvals so that we can open. The process can be very slow and arduous, but we’ve got good people dedicating themselves to moving us forward. Thanks to Rafael Morales and Alfredo Osorio Peters for so capably helping us on this front.
